Community Involvement

The management and employees of First National Bank of Hico have always understood the importance of playing an active role in the community.   We take pride in our community and strive to help make Hico a better place to live.  First National Bank of Hico participates with local schools and clubs on a regular basis.  We volunteer for a wide variety of things from either helping children at the school with their reading or parking cars at the Old Settlers Reunion.   We are trying to do our part to help Hico and the community to be as successful as possible.

National Teach Children to Save Day

The First National Bank of Hico, in conjunction with American Bankers Association, helps to promote the financial tools children need today to help them for the future.  Since 2003, several of our employees have gone to the Hico ISD campuses to teach children the importance of saving at an early age and also about different financial tools that they will eventually use in everyday life.  We also have helped teach about credit card use and the basics of balancing a checkbook.  This has been a very worthwhile project for both the school and the bank employees.

Hico Elementary Reading Program

Each year, our employees at First National Bank of Hico attend the Hico ISD campus periodically to read books to the elementary school children.  It has become a gratifying experience for both the children and the employees.  Just another community involvement project that our bank employees enjoy and it keeps us going back year after year.

Texas Steak Cook-off Beef Symposium and Tourist Trap

For a day full of fun times and great entertainment this is a fantastic time for everyone.  This annual Steak Cook-off has become one of the biggest and most exciting events for our town.  Since 2004, Hico has had been privileged to host the event with people coming from all over the state.  First National Bank of Hico has been an active Corporate Sponsor of the Cook-off each year.  So come on to Hico and join the fun. You will see us all there working to help make it a success.

Hico Old Settlers Reunion

If there is one thing in Hico that is guaranteed every year, it is the fact that there will be an Old Settlers Reunion every last week in July.  The Old Settlers Reunion was first held in 1882.  Save a few years during World War II, it has been a continuous celebration every year.  Our bank has been a proud part of the week-long festival.  We help with various aspects of the reunion from the parade to the beauty pageants to the activities at the City Park.  It is truly a community celebration.  We would love to see you there.

Billy the Kid Day

The first Saturday in April becomes a busy day in downtown Hico.  When most people hear of Hico, Texas they think of the legend of Billy the Kid.  Well, this day is set aside for fun and games, arts& crafts, and some real good eating.  Our bank employees are sure to be there whether it is working the silent auction or just helping out somewhere along the downtown esplanade.

Relay for Life

For the last 3 years, Hico has hosted the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.  Several area teams are involved in this event.  Our bank team, a.k.a. "Banking on a Cure", has raised over $3000.00 to go towards research, education, and cancer advocacy here in Hamilton County.  This very exciting event with our community becoming more and more involved every year.
